Love your article! I'm transitioning as well. ALL of my hair is natural EXCEPT for my bangs (so annoying)! & Thats because I straighten them the most! But! I don't like wearing my natural curly hair lol...I like the straight/wavy look. I don't condition my hair that often neither but your post definitely motivated me to want to condition my hair more & only use the flat iron like twice a month instead of every week! So thank you! Your hair will get back to the way you want it in no time!

I too had heat damage when transitioning into my natural state because I would straighten my hair once every two weeks. I wasn't doing any good to my hair. Once I noticed my heat damaged I had to do something. So what I began to do was deep condition my hair once every two weeks & stop putting heat on my hair. It's been about 5 months now & I can see that my heat damage has slowly but surely reverted back to healthy bouncing curls and I think the reason why was because I stopped using heat tools on my hair. Another great tip is to do braidouts or twist outs on your hair. I know for me when I do a braid out or twist, they usually last for a week which is good for me. I learn that the less products I put in my hair the faster it grows. I only use two products in my hair and that's natural shea butter and eco gel(castor oil). When it comes to deep conditioning, I keep it natural. I make my own deep conditioners which contain one avocado, olive oil and honey. I let it sit in my hair for about 6 hours and I rinse it out and proceed with my hair style. Remember less it more.

One day I'm going to leave heat alone & just wear my natural curly hair, I love my curls I just think wearing my hair straight/wavy is easier to maintain.
